Love you, Mia

// May 11th, 2011 // Mia

Tonight after work, I went outside to mow the lawn.  Mia came with (any excuse to play outside and help dad…much appreciated company by me). It was the first time out this year, so as per usual, I had a few weeds to pop and spray with weed killer before mowing.  One by one, we tracked down the pesky dandelions.  I popped them out and sprayed their newly vacated spot in the grass, Mia opened the garbage bag and dropped them in.  Somewhere around halfway through, Mia disappeared to the garage.  A couple minutes later, she was back with Rocket, her plastic sit-and-ride toy car with a storage compartment under the seat that’s usually stocked full of rocks.  At first I just figured she had grown bored of our tag-team weed pulling endeavor, but then I quickly realized what she was up to.  Mia drove Rocket over to my side then purposely tipped it over, revealing a two-week-old collection of dandelions – dozens of stems, faded yellow tops and hundreds of little seedlings – all over the grass.   She looked up at me and didn’t say a word – just a proud little smile that said, “Look dad…I collect these too!”

Love you, Mia.

    Mia and Grandpa Breglio collected the dandelions on their walk a few weeks ago. I had forgotten that she put them in Rocket. She even brought one into the house for me. Sweet.
