The Monthly Report: More Good News!
// September 9th, 2008 // Mia
Today Mia went back up to Primary Children’s for her monthly checkup and ultrasound. More good news! The ultrasound showed the internal hemangiomas are in check – no growth, no new additions. The doctors were all very pleased with her progress and couldn’t believe how much she’d grown since her last appointment (she’s just short of 16 lbs now). The next step is to reduce her prednisone by half, which means she’ll be taking half of a tiny pill (2.5mg) every other day – quite a reduction from the 15mg daily dose PLUS chemo! They added a calcium supplement and kept her on the antibiotic, but those are just precautionary. She goes back in a month for a blood draw and most likely a reduction to NO MEDS! Then the following month (in November), she’ll have a series of more intense scans (MRI, CT) to see if everything is still in check and if so, we could be completely out of the woods…so KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED! Regardless, we’ve learned we have the toughest little cookie in the jar and mom and dad couldn’t be more proud of her. We love her to pieces and feel like the luckiest parents in the world to have such an incredible little daughter.
We can’t say it enough, but thanks to the whole family for being so supportive and helping all three of us out so much over the past several months. Love to you all.
